Treating your Dry or Dehydrated Skin at Home

Is your skin screaming at you that being stuck indoors is drying it out right now? While we are all practicing social distancing and staying home these days, my skin is fighting to stay hydrated and revitalized. During these uncertain times, stress could also be causing skin reactions that reflect it.

Treating your skin at home is a must-do during this time of isolation, social distancing, and being indoors. If you, like me, are longing for days to get back into a clinic to kickstart some skin treatment revitalization, I feel the same way! I am here to tell you that there are things you can be doing at home. Now is the time for true skin self-care and here are three easy ways to treat yourself and your skin to the needed care it deserves.

#1 Get Moving!

Moving your body every day doesn't just help with your sleep! It also is such a significant boost for your skin because it increases blood flow and stimulates lymphatic circulation. Commit every day to a walk or some time outdoors, but always always always remember that SPF!

#2 Keep your Skincare Routine CONSISTENT!

This crucial. Times of stress are NOT the time to try a bunch of new products. Consistency is KEY, and an effective medical-grade product routine is essential. It will help keep your skin calm and hydrated. If you are ready to purge all those unused miss-mash of products in your bathroom cupboards, we can set you up on a simple but highly effective routine that will replenish skin dryness and dullness.

#3 Stick with that Skincare Routine!

If you are taking step 2 to heart, patience is now a virtue! You need to stick with it consistently to see those results. Your skin rejuvenates itself every three months, so that is the amount of time your skin needs to show evident improvement. That's right! Three months! Switching products every other week or even every other month is not suitable for you or your skin. Commit to a routine for at least three months before making a final judgement on whether it's working for you and your skin. Now is the time to commit to that.

One good thing about #socialdistancing is that many of us are probably saving our makeup and going bare face. It is almost like a cleanse for our skin, and our skin is loving that! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

However, do not mistake that for a cleanser! You still need to wash your face daily and wash your hands regularly. Trying not to touch your face is good health care practices for your skin at any time, so a good habit to begin for now and for life.

If you still can't get your skin feeling hydrated enough, my current go-to mask is an Aqua Infusion Mask by @alumierMD. It will nourish and boost your skin!
